When joining the local art club, where I lived 5 years ago, I had no idea I would ever be exhibiting at all. I loved painting, but hadn’t been painting for several years due to studies that literally took all my time.
Then, when attending my first course in watercolours, hosted by the local art club, the instructor challenged us to exhibit at an art festival next year, at the Galleria Art Festival. Together with a friend at the art club, we decided to go for it, sharing one exhibition spot.
Excited and nervous, I packed the car with my carefully framed artworks, and took the 6 hours drive together with my husband. While driving, a lot of “what if’s…” went through my head.
What if I didn’t sell any works? What if all the work I had put down would come out as a total failure? What if I was being ridiculous, showing works that no-one liked?
Going through this, I settled on hoping for only one sold painting. If I could achieve that, I would be very, very happy with the result.
I sold 17 paintings. And, no need to say, I was totally overwhelmed!
Now, as the next upcoming exhibition is approaching very quickly, I strive with the same feelings. What if…? What if…?
And like the first time, I’m hoping for the rescue, you know, that one sold painting.
However, the exhibition is known as Vårutstillingen i Nittedal. For an intensive period of 9 days, they exhibit works from famous norwegian artists, some international well-resumated artists, along with a few unknown artist like myself (thank you!).
Here’s the list, I’ve highlighted my name, and a some artists I highly admire.

Seeing my name together with these big, famous names, surely adds to the excitement and stokedness (is that a word?). Yes, and to the nervousness.
Well, I guess I can’t prepare for that, neither bypass it, it’s part of the game. But I sure have prepared for the exhibition.
I’ve carefully selected some well proven favourites, mixed a few bold and courageous choices. The star of the latter being a hand coloured giclée print named “Silence”.
If you want to attend the exhibition, it’s held in Nittedal (near Oslo, Norway), at Nittedal Idrettslags Klubbhus, i Kvernstuveien 5. Opening reception is scheduled for April 23rd at Noon, with last day May 1st. Opening hours are 12-19 first weekend, 17-19 workdays, and 12-17 last weekend.
