The translation of the norwegian title of this picture wasn’t easy. The norwegian name has a double play. It means both a gaming room, but also the possibility, ability and a space to act, to take action. The scenery is from Spain, in the city called Cuenca, a few hours drive frome Madrid. The photography that inspired me was shot in the old parts of the city by my little brother, an emerging, talented art photographer (in my opinion). The vivid colors, the worn appearance and narrow spaces make a perfect blend of present and past. It makes you think about the passing times, the different ages, the past and the future. What have the walls here seen? What will they see in the future? People passing by, having discussions, laughing, arguing, playing and fighting. Hence the title “Spillerom”.
