Recently finished! This artwork was part of a self-challenge, with limitations regarding the color palette in the end painting. I wanted the painting to contain 5 specific trending interior colors that I’m fond of, and think are especially beautiful together. I also imposed another limitation on myself. I was only to use 4 (different) colors in making the painting…!
The end result had to contain these 5 colors:
- Northern Mystic (Jotun Lady)
- Masala (Jotun Lady)
- Natural Clay (Jotun Lady)
- S 5070-Y30R
- Askesort (Jotun, S 8000-N)
But, I was only to use these 4 colours making it:
- Yellow Ochre
- Vermilion Red
- Ultramarine Blue
- Paynes Gray
Which isn’t that hard, since they’re all in the same earthy color tones. But, making a whole painting, only using this limited palette, was really hard, but also fun, since I had to think in a different way creating depth, transitions, layers and color mixing.
I’m quite happy with the result, as it ended up containing all the required colors, and I managed not to use any other colors than the four. Limitations like this is actually quite fun when creating!
